Structure your content and make it easy to read

Imagine opening a Google search result and finding an article with incredibly long paragraphs. How likely are you to continue reading it? You'll probably try to use the Ctrl + F shortcut, or simply exit the page to find a better structured article. If the user exits a page on your site, the time spent on the site decreases and the bounce rate increases, and this is not good for the positioning of your website.

Here are some tips to improve the readability of a content:

Expand your text if the topic requires it. This does not mean that a short article is bound to rank poorly, it depends on what users need. Longer articles are likely to provide more information on a topic and therefore perform better.
Consider adding a table of contents. If your article is long, add a table of contents at the beginning of the article to allow visitors to quickly access the section they are interested in.
Use H2 + H3. Well-structured articles, with H2 and H3 tags, are more likely to perform well. Structure your article to make it easier for the user to understand the content, but don't overdo it: too many subheadings can make the structure more complex.
One paragraph = one idea. Break content into logical, digestible segments to keep readers engaged.
Answer users' questions. Grab the attention of the people you want to reach by including their questions (that you discovered in Step 1) in your subtitles.
Highlight the most important ideas. You can use bold or change the font size. This adds emphasis, makes the text easier to follow, and helps to fix the main ideas in the minds of the users.
Break up long sentences. Just as you break up content into paragraphs, break up long sentences into shorter ones.
